FAQ'S

How long will my microblading last? This varies as all skin types are different, and depends on your lifestyle and how well you look after your eyebrows after the treatment. If you have oily skin then generally the microblading can last between 6-9 months. If you have normal to dry skin then it can last between 12-18 months. Even after this time, however, if you have exceptionally dry skin, you may have some pigment left on your eyebrows. This could still allow you to fill it in much easier if desired. The aftercare during the first 2 weeks of the procedure is very important in ensuring that the eyebrows heal properly (this will be explained in detail to you at your consultation). To maintain the longevity of your eyebrows you must also always wear good SPF, as UV exposure will break the pigment down very quickly in the skin. You can purchase an SPF from me thats specifically designed for microbladed eyebrows. Excessive sweating or very active lifestyles may also cause your eyebrows to fade quicker, you can also purchase the SPF for this too as it is sweat proof- this will prevent them from fading quicker.
-
Does microblading hurt?Everyone's pain threshold is different. You might feel a slight discomfort but it is almost painless. As the blade cuts through the top layer of the skin you will feel a scratching sensation rather than pain- people have compared this to the same kind of feeling as threading. You will only feel this discomfort for the first 40 minutes of the treatment as anaesthetic is used for the rest of the treatment. The reason a pre-numbing isn't used is primarily for quality purposes, I explain further at your consultation.
-
How long does the treatment take? The treatment usually takes around 3 hours. Essential top up treatments usually take around 2 hour.
-
How long is the healing period?Your healing period is considered 7 days, during this time you need to follow all the aftercare requirements which you will be briefed on at the consultation. This is to ensure the skin heals correctly and quickly to avoid any pigment loss or any infections. It will take 7 days for the superficial layer of skin to heal, but up to 4 weeks for the internal layers of skin to fully heal. This is why its appropriate for your essential top up to take place after this time period. Please note that thinner, more mature skin types may take slightly longer- again this will be advised during your consultation.
-
Will I need an allergy test?Yes, it is a legal requirement for you to to undergo a patch test minimum 24 hours before your full microblading treatment.
-
Can I have microblading if I've had previous semi-permanent make up done?80% of clients who have existing semi permanent make up are able to have their brows corrected or covered however this is subject to a consultation. Depending on your skin tone and natural eyebrow hair colour and how much of the old work is showing. In some cases, clients may be advised to have their old semi-permanent make up removed before having the treatment done. Please understand from an artists perspective, that if you choose not to have your old semi permanent make up removed (although not always required), this may effect the overall quality of your new brows.
-
What will this effect my ability to have microblading done?It is best to discuss during the consultation or even beforehand if you are taking medication for anything as this may effect the treatment. However, here is a list of essential things that will prevent clients from having microblading done; A history of keloid scars, certain autoimmune disease, pregnant or breastfeeding,
-
Can I have microblading if I am pregnant or breastfeeding? It is not possible to have microblading done whilst you are still pregnant or breastfeeding, you must wait a minimum of 2 weeks after giving birth for your hormones to regulate before having the treatment done. You must also wait until you have finished breast feeding, primarily because not enough research has been done to prove that the treatment cant harm your child through breast feeding , although very unlikely- not with the risk. Additionally, certain hormones released in the body when breastfeeding will cause your skin to reject the pigment, ultimately resulting in them completely disappearing days/weeks after the treatment.
-
I've had microblading done before with someone else, is a consultation still essential before booking in with you?"Yes! It is still essential, especially if you've had work done elsewhere. Other artists may not use the same pigments as me, the treatment process may not be the same etc. and its important for the client to understand all this before having microbading done. Additionally, I will not 'touch up' someone else's work, generally this means you will need a full treatment but again this can be discussed during your consultation

AftercareCaring for your new eyebrows after treatment is vital for a good healed result and will minimise any risk of infection and skin trauma. You will be supplied with everything you need to look after your brows for the first 7 days and should use only the products in your aftercare pack. It’s very important you follow the advice given especially on the first day of treatment. 1 hour after treatment clean the eyebrows thoroughly with the aftercare wipe and apply a thin layer of skin candy Then for the first day clean the brows every hour with block tonic solution or distilled water and apply thin layer of skin candy… Bed time, clean the brows for the last time with distilled water , apply skin candy and cover the brows with the sterile phi patches. These must be worn only on the first night to ensure the skin stays clean and hydrated and prevent any scab formation. Once the patches are removed the next morning, if there is any lymph fluid on the surface of the skin (clear liquid) you may clean the brows with block tonic / distilled water and apply thin layer of skin candy. Then for the second day clean the brows every 2 hours & apply skin candy. Third day clean brows every 3 hours & apply skin candy. From day 4-7 wipe brows 2-3 times a day & only apply skin candy 2-3 times a day. (Oily skin once daily) It is also important not to over use the skin candy, 2-3 times a day is perfect. For the first week you may still wear makeup, just avoid getting it in your eyebrows. When washing and cleansing your face carefully clean around the eyebrows. In the shower do your best not to get them wet. If you do, gently pat them dry without rubbing. You may experience some mild peeling, this is part of the skin regeneration/renewal process so it is very important not to scrub or pick within the first week and allow the skin to heal and renew naturally in its own time. Scrubbing and picking will cause skin to be removed too soon, this in turn can cause scabbing, scars and poor pigment retention. Skin healing takes 28 days which is why we don’t top up before 4 weeks. During the healing process the skin will go through some changes. Healing for everyone is different but these are some of the stages and what to expect. During the first 2-4 days after treatment the brows will be darker (up to 40%) and will also look thicker don’t worry, they will shrink back once healed and the colour will also settle. You may experience some mild peeling, little scabs are also normal, just don’t pick them and allow to heal naturally. Within the second week the colour will fade, it may look a little patchy and can even look like it has disappeared, this is all normal and colour will come back up in week 3&4 before your top up. This is when we will make any corrections and add colour if needed

How long does it last?It lasts from 4-12 months depending on the amount and type of filler used
-
Are these the same as dermal fillers? There are many types of dermal filler. HA is one of them, although it is not permanent. HA is found naturally in the the skin and is known to attract water molecules, fillers made from hyaluronic acid help maintain or restore hydration, volumize the skin, and even help to stimulate new collagen growth.
-
Is this the same as dermal fillers?Using the Phinjection pen pushes the Hyaluronic Acid into the the dermis and epidermal layer instead of using a needle. It has similar results as traditional fillers but with less pain! This is a safe effective way of administering HA into the skin without the use of a hypodermic needle.
-
How does it work? The pressure from the Phinjection pen is strong enough to force the HA liquid into the skin. The pen is not a miracle lip volumizer, the fillers are not permanent. This technique is less abrasive than other procedures as there are no needles involved. Results are very natural but can also be topped up after 2-4 weeks.
-
Could I have an allergic reaction?Allergic reactions can of course happen to anyone at anytime. However, The liquid used for the fillers is hyaluronic acid, which humans produce naturally. This means there is less risk of getting an allergic reaction with the fillers because we have some in our bodies already and is used to retain moisture in the skin. Mild swelling can occur after treatment, usually settling in 2-3 days.
-
Are there any restrictions? It is safe for the majority of clients to have this treatment done. on the day of your appointment we will carry out a consultation, run through a medical questionnaire to test your eligibility together and have any of your questions answered prior to going ahead with the treatment.
-
Is eyebrow lamination safe? It’s the perfect treatment for those who have unruly or course brow hairs and are looking for a more defined shape. However, if you are prone to breakouts, have eczema, thyroid issues you should avoid eyebrow lamination as the chemicals used could cause further irritation
-
Before Your AppointmentNO TAN: Ensure there is NO FAKE TAN on your skin, as this can affect the overall result of your tint. Please allow 24 hours or more after your brow appointment to tan. If you are a regular tanner – Please let me know. PRODUCTS: If you are using any Vitamin A or Retin A based skin care, please discontinue use for at least a week prior to your appointment. These products can make your skin extremely sensitive to the wax, resulting in the stylist unable to perform the waxing service. If you are using ANY skin medications please ensure your stylist or admin is informed prior to booking or during your consultation. If you have undergone any intense facial treatments (such as microdermabrasion, facial peels, etc) please allow up to one week before booking an appointment
-
Henna Vs. TintBoth offer outstanding results, however as similar as the treatments appear there are factors that differentiate the two. I provide you with these service options to establish your preferred service. Henna formula is derived from plants making it a natural hair dye alternative, with each capsule activated with rose water. Brow Tint is a vegetable based dye mixed with a 3% peroxide to activate.
-
Tint LifespanUp to 1 week on the skin. Up to 3/4 weeks on the hair. APPLICATION Styling time (with wax) is approximately 30 mins. PRODUCT Peroxide activator. Less expensive alternative.
-
Can I get tint if my brows are too thin?If you have overplucked, eyebrow design can help help. I would advise you to go on the re-growth programme for 4 to 6 weeks to see if your brows will grow. If this doesn’t work you have the option og semi-permanent
-
Henna LifespanUp to 2 week on the skin. Up to 4/5 weeks on the hair. APPLICATION Styling time (with wax) is approximately 45 mins to 1 hr. PRODUCT Natural alternative. Derived from plants. Rose Water activator.
-
AftercareNo sweating, water or products applied to the brow area for the first initial 24 HOURS. AVOID: To prolong the chosen dye, ensure you avoid washing or scrubbing through your brows in-between appointments. Avoid tweezing any brow hair in-between appointments, as this will effect your growth cycle, in which will affect the longevity of your results. For Brow Lamination, BL cream MUST be applied every night to nourish the brow hair and restore it’s natural oils after this treatment.
-
What are the benefits of threading?Threading only removes hair, not skin because it is exact, it can remove hairs that are finer which cannot be removed by waxing or plucking. Threading is also very fast, sessions will only take about 15 minutes.
-
How long does threading last?Depending on your hair type and area of face, full growth can be anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. Hair will start to grow back sparse and finer after repeated threading because hair is pulled out at the root, which gets weakened through this process.
-
Is threading better than waxing?Waxing can sometimes be painful, cause skin burns on sensitive skin and stretch the skin while threading is quick, less painful and lasts longer.
-
Does threading hurt?Yes and no :) It’s found to be less painful than waxing but it doesn’t mean you are not going to feel anything. Just let me know your sensitivities before treatment.
-
Does hair grow back thicker after threading?Threading your hair will grow back finer than any other non-permanent hair removal technique for the face.
-
Is threading hygienic?Brow lounge follows all hygiene practices - hand sanitiser is used between clients or even gloves, fresh thread, disposable brow brushes, scissors are sterilized.
-
Is threading used for facial hair?Yes, threading can be done on all parts of the face. Upper lip, sides, chin, etc.
-
What You Need to Know About WaxingWaxing is simply a semi-permanent hair removal method. The technique removes hair from the root, and it takes 3 to 8 weeks for the new hair to grow. Unlike other hair removal techniques such as threading; waxing can be done on almost any part of the body including arms, legs, back, eyebrow, abdomen, face, bikini area and feet.
-
How it’s DoneWaxing is the most advantageous way of removing excess or unwanted hair from the body. This leaves the waxed area very smooth. To explain how it’s done, we are going to look into the two methods of doing it. Below are the main types of hair removal. Hot wax or hard wax- This is among the most popular methods whereby hot wax is applied on the region you wish to wax. The wax is applied in a thick layer then allowed to cool down for it to harden for an easy removal. The wax is then peeled off to remove the hair. Strip waxing or soft wax- this method works by spreading the wax in a thin layer over the area you wish to remove the hair. A paper strip is then applied on the area and then ripped off in the opposite direction of hair growth using quick movement. You can also cover the waxed area with a non-woven strip, and when you remove it, the hair comes with it.
-
Benefits of WaxingWaxing is considered as one of the most effective hair removal methods for any part of the body. It guarantees a complete removal, even underneath the surface of the skin. There are numerous benefits of waxing and below is a list of just a few: Long lasting smooth and silky skin – Waxing removes hair from the root, thus making it take more time for new hair to grow back. The period before new hair growth differs from person to person and skin type, but it’s mostly observed to take 3-8 weeks. The technique ensures an extended period of smooth, silky and hair free skin. Exfoliation – Besides leaving the skin soft and smooth, waxing also rejuvenates the skin by removing the dead skin cells. As you remove the hardened wax, dead skin cells come with it. No skin damage – Unlike other types of hair removal methods like shaving, waxing does not cause adverse effects such as pigmentation, cuts or bad smelling skin. The wax used in the process is 100% natural thus leaving no chance of reactions. Softer and finer body hair – After waxing, the hair that grows back is soft and fine. Factors to consider before waxing To get the best out of this technique, there are a few factors that you need to consider. Here are just a few things that should be considered before waxing. The hair should be a quarter inch long. Wax applied should cover the root of the hair. Avoid using lotion since it can cause sensitivity or irritation of the skin People under medication should avoid waxing; the products can cause quick exfoliation of the skin leading to scabbing. There should be a 24-hour gap after shaving before sunbathing because the skin is still sensitive.
-
TwezingIf tweezing is your preference please let me know. This is mainly used on older skin types who are sensitive to reduce irritation.
-
